This project funds didactic training and rotations in the addiction medicine clinic for residents. Residents from all programs on campus are eligible to receive this training, which includes basic medication for opioid use disorder treatment and several additional trainings on harm reduction and working with underserved populations that use drugs. Residents partner with nursing and social work students in an integrative team to deliver care to people who use drugs.
This training program is targeted towards medical students. All students at Meharry receive didactic training in the delivery of medication for opioid use disorder, and students who opt to take an additional rotation in addiction medicine are available to all interested students.
